Before you come
Huinganco is a mountain village, and that comes with its own rules. Here is what is worth knowing before you set off, so the trip goes smoothly.
Worth knowing
-
Fill up in Andacollo
Huinganco has no petrol station. There is a YPF module with premium fuel in Andacollo, 6 km away. Note: payment is by cash or debit card only — credit cards are not accepted. It is worth calling ahead to check availability.
-
Bring cash
The Banco Provincia del Neuquén branch has Link network ATMs, and several local supermarkets allow cash withdrawals at the till. Even so, it is best to travel with cash: not every business accepts cards.
-
In winter, come in via Route 39
In winter we recommend entering via Route 39, going through Andacollo first. The direct road through the forest can be covered in snow and impassable.
Distances
Huinganco is 456 km from the city of Neuquén. The road is paved except for the last 6 km, which are well-maintained compacted gravel.
- 6 km Andacollo
Bus terminal with two daily services to Neuquén city, and the nearest fuel station.
- 54 km Chos Malal
The nearest town with full services.
- 74 km Chos Malal Airport
- 88 km Pichachén international border crossing
Border crossing into Chile.
- 454 km Neuquén International Airport
